Cheggers brings joy to couple
A Shropshire pensioner today opened his front door to find GMTV star Keith "Cheggers" Chegwin standing on his doorstep waving a £10,000 cheque. The presenter turned up at the home of Sydney Morgan, 78, of Duddleston Heath, near Ellesmere, armed with his "Cheg Book" to present the prize.
Mr Morgan entered a competition yesterday by answering a question and was celebrating after taking the cash.
He said: "I rang yesterday morning. I forget what the question was now, but it is a lovely surprise to win because I always enter. At 8.45am I heard a noise and wondered what was going on. I have been lucky in competitions before, but never this lucky. It's wonderful."
Mr Morgan and his wife Mary plan to spend the money on their house. Mrs Morgan said: "It's the happiest day of my life - I am so excited."
Keith Chegwin travels the around the country to present the top prize. He said: "We have been to Shropshire a few times before, and North Wales, so they are very lucky around here."
