The Princess Royal will officially open Louise House, the county council's new intermediate care centre at Meole Brace, Shrewsbury.

Louise House provides older people with the support they need to remain independent and avoid going into hospital or residential care.

It is the base for a Rapid Response Team, which can quickly provide patients with treatment and help in their own homes to avoid hospital admission, and a Short Term Assessment and Reablement Team (START) which provides a specialist home care service.

Council leader Malcolm Pate said today: "It is with great pleasure that I will invite the Princess Royal to officially open Louise House.

"Along with the other buildings in the project, it will boost our good achievements with preventive services for older people and our modernisation of services for adults with learning disabilities."
