Woosie's wife banned from flight

The wife of Shropshire Ryder Cup captain, Ian Woosnam, was banned from a British Airways flight as she was "unfit to travel", it was revealed today. Glendryth Woosnam, 45, who is originally from St Martins, was not allowed to board a BA flight from Gatwick to Barbados.

Mrs Woosnam, whose husband's European team triumphed over the Americans in the golf tournament in Ireland last month, said she was "a bit woozy" when she checked in for last week's flight.

She said: "I have no doubt that the airline took the right decision in not letting me board the plane. I was partying with friends the evening before my flight and when I woke up I took, as always, medication to help me on the long transatlantic flight."

It was also reported that mother-of-three Mrs Woosnam had sworn at one of the BA managers at the time of the incident but had now apologised to the manager and sent her flowers.

A BA spokesman said today: "A female passenger was refused travel on flight BA 2155 Gatwick to Barbados service as she was deemed unfit to travel."
