Motorists no help in emergency

May I convey my thanks to all those drivers who stopped and offered assistance to me when I had broken down. I was travelling towards Westbury (on my way to a hospital appointment in Shrewsbury) and was diverted towards the main road heading to Halfway House as the road was closed at Cruckton.

Not too far from the main road junction, and just round a bend, my car lost all power. I drove it towards the verge and managed to get the front nearside wheel up, but unfortunately this stopped all momentum. As I had lost all electrical power I could not restart the car.

Whilst waiting for my husband (a mechanic) to arrive I rang the RSH to let them know that I would not arrive for my 9.45 appointment.

Sadly because of my illness and my stature (4ft 11ins and seven stone) I was unable to physically push my car off the road.

This would have satisfied the number of drivers who abused me by hooting and gesticulating.

It may have been that I was suffering a heart attack, massive asthma attack or some such acute event.

When I am fit and able I also ride a motorbike (quite a big one) and a fellow biker would not have passed by without checking I was OK. I did break down on my bike once and within 15 minutes I had assistance.

Again, my thanks to the motorists of the Shopshire and Mid Wales borders for their help. Some, I noticed, passed me more than once while I was still in the same spot until help arrived.

The gesticulating drivers that passed me may have assumed I had just stopped to talk on my mobile and so decided to let me know their thoughts.

Hopefully they saw me gesticulating back.
