Jobs boost at sports store
Oswestry is to get a jobs boost when a national sports store opens up in the town. Sports Soccer is due to open its doors in Cross Street on November 24, creating a host of new jobs.
The national sports chain is the latest big name to move into the town recently.
Civic chiefs are hoping the opening of new stores will bring even more shoppers into the market town, particularly in the run up to the busy Christmas period.
The arrival of Sports Soccer follows in the wake of Peacocks and Bon Marche, which moved into the former Littlewoods building earlier this year.
It also comes after Wilkinson's created 50 new jobs by moving into a new building at the new Castle Court development, which is four times the size of its old store.
Gail Holloway, of Oswestry Town Council, welcomed the influx of new shops.
She said: "The new shops can only improve the shopping experience for local people and visitors alike. We only hope it will encourage shoppers to stay in Oswestry rather than to travel to larger towns and cities."
