Cemetery no place for dogs
I have just returned from visiting my grandson's grave for his third birthday at High Ercall church cemetery and was most upset and appalled at the action of two women with dogs.
They unleashed the dogs and allowed them to run all around the cemetery without regard to the graves. The dogs proceeded into the "new" part and attempted to mess on the grass.
One woman came to retrieve her dog and moved to the main part of the yard where they carried on playing with the dogs.
I approached one of them and suggested they exercised their dogs elsewhere to which she replied: "The vicar brings his dog here".
Two elderly men sitting on a seat started to applaud and said that they often visited the cemetery and it was about time they were told.
As I left the church cemetery someone else arrived with two springer spaniels and began exercising their dogs.
Surely this is totally unacceptable and most disrespectful in a place that should be held with dignity and respect, both for the loved ones there and for the family of loved ones visiting.
