Councillors know how to spend

Mr Alan Burr obviously thinks the district council is flush with money! Not so. The budget for 11 toilets - spread around South Shropshire - is £113,875 this year. Galdeford toilet is costing £9,166 for the year, which is about £25 per day.

South Shropshire is carrying out a programme of refitting and updating its toilets. We are the proud possessors of Êa "Loo of the Year" Award for the improved Bishop's Castle loo. We are carrying out improvements to almost all toilets.

To help reduce the costs, we have rationalised provision, so each market town will shortly have one improved toilet and Ludlow two.

Cleobury Mortimer will have a brand new toilet building on its new car park. At the same time we have gone for vandal resistant designs to keep the running costs down in future. We are spending our pennies prudently.
