Turbines will lead to slaughter

I see that a swan has been unfortunately killed by the revolving blades of the small wind turbine located in the Lakeside area of Swansea Enterprise Park. I, and others, have been attempting to publicise this disastrous aspect of wind turbines in the press for several years.

Published

Thousands of raptors have been killed over recent years in California, Spain, Italy and Germany by wind turbines.

The wind energy companies and green groups have always denied that bird-kill is a problem.

Now the people of South Wales have first-hand proof of the ornithological disaster that awaits Wales, as hundreds of giant new wind turbines are planned for the Welsh hills.

Ironically, the 50ft wind turbine in the enterprise park has been a disaster from the start, only generating minuscule amounts of electricity, even when it has been turning.

If a wind turbine with blades just a few feet long can have guillotined such a beautiful creature from the skies, imagine the wholesale slaughter that will occur if the Welsh Assembly's TAN 8 wind turbine proposals are enacted in our unspoilt hills, especially the Cambrian Mountains in the Mid Wales region.
