Fire tender moans not justifiable
Mr J Leach's complaint about fire tenders in Shrewsbury town centre (Star, August 29) is rather silly. Recently the town has made headline news for the wrong reasons - street fights, attempted suicides, drownings, robberies, plus many other events. All Mr Leach can find to complain about is seeing fire tenders in town.
Who cares! When we have an emergency and dial for help, all we could care about is one turning up to help us, when we need it.
As for pollution, I'm sure that other vehicles such as buses, and MPVs pollute more than fire tenders. Should we ban these from going through town too?
I work in the town centre and have never seen tenders causing congestion or holding up traffic, unless dealing with an emergency.
I've also seen tenders from Wales, Hereford and the West Midlands travelling through town training learner drivers and, most recently, a tender you can hire for hen parties.
Mr Leach, if you have a complaint make it about something worthwhile, not the fire service.
