Questions on report's accuracy

The Shropshire Star article "Media rated above the internet in survey" on August 21 started "Regional newspapers are among the most trustworthy methods of communicating news and current affairs in the UK, according to new research".

Published

This research, by Telecom Express, was based on public perception of accuracy and not on the factual content reported by the media or on the internet.

I have made serious claims about PM2.5 emissions from Ironbridge Power Station affecting the health of residents downwind of the station and the mortality data for 1990-2003 shows much higher death rates in electoral wards downwind, compared with upwind.

Anyone who still believes the Shropshire Star article "Power station not linked to deaths" (May 8) will find the Office of National Statistics mortality data shown on the ward map at www.ukhr.org will shake their faith in the accuracy of the press.

The headline should have been: "PCT denies power station death link" and should have included expert comment from Dr Dick van Steenis, myself and residents. The article was a disgrace to journalism.
