Incomers always want to change

The continued list of letters moaning about planes and helicopters using the Shropshire air space is becoming a little tiresome. In particular may I refer to "Planes are not part of country life" from Mrs Margaret Harris (Letters August 21).

Mrs Margaret Harris tells us that she and her husband moved to Myddle for a quieter life, just over a year ago.

Sorry Mrs Harris, but you are a little out of touch as far as aerial activity over Myddle village is concerned.

For in my lifetime of 59 years, aircraft from RAF Shawbury have flown over the village in the past, using Sleap as a "touch and go", location, day in and day out, the red light on the top of Grinshill being there as a warning to aircraft.

Aircraft from the flying club at Sleap have also been above the village long back into my schooldays, none of this with any complaints from the villagers.

Why is it when some outsiders move into a village they have to moan about things which have been part of village life for years and years? Why do some of those people think they have the God given right to make changes?

As for tractors, combines and farm animals being part of country life, then maybe a little of that has disappeared with the heart of Alford Farm in the village being ripped out and developed for more houses.

That strikes me as a money making exercise and not something which benefits country life. If you are not happy with village life, the solution is easy.
