Sophie Turner blasts Game Of Thrones rape scene critics

Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner has made a heated defence of the rape scenes her character endured in the hit TV series.
Turner, 21, plays Sansa Stark who was raped by another character, Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), on their wedding night in season five of the adaptation of George RR Martin’s books.
It prompted outrage from viewers that such a violent scene would be included as entertainment and some even threatened to stop watching the series because they found it so offensive.
“Naively so. And then I shot the scene, and in the aftermath there was this huge uproar that we would depict something like that on television.
“The more we talk about sexual assault the better, and screw the people who are saying we shouldn’t be putting this on TV and screw the people who are saying they’re going to boycott the show because of it.”
Turner, who first appeared in the fantasy series known for its violence and sex scenes in 2011, added that she had learned a lot from the scripts.
She said: “The first time I ever found out about oral sex was from reading the script.
“I was like, ‘Wow! People do that? That’s fascinating!'”
