Sally Johns, from Shrewsbury, is celebrating after picking up an award for her property in Burlton, near Wem.

Her converted barn holiday let, Vitula Cottage, scooped gold in the Best in Central England category in the Sykes Gems Awards.

The national awards programme by Skyes Holiday Cottages saw thousands of entries from across the UK and Ireland, with Vitula Cottage beating off tough competition to take home the trophy.

The cottage sits on the grounds of Sally and her husband’s farmhouse in the hamlet of Burlton, which the couple moved to in 2012. After recognising that one of the property’s barns had potential, Sally and Alan decided to convert it into a holiday let.
