There is also an ornamental kitchen garden with outbuildings, a rose and peony walk, courtyard fountain garden and large shrubbery and a clematis collection.

A new three-acre garden will be opening up to visitors on Sunday.

The garden, at 2 School Cottages, in Shrewsbury, is set on a slope with steps and inclines.

There is a mixture of various herbaceous beds, shrubs, trees, sunken garden and formal planting.

Visitors can explore an orchard, soft fruit cage, greenhouse, and see chickens and pigs.

An award-winning garden will be open to visitors on Sunday in Telford.

Windy Ridge is a village garden in Telford. There are more than 1,000 species in the garden.

The grass and perennial gravel garden has created a lot of interest and versions are now appearing in gardens all over the country.

Last year, the National Garden Scheme donated a record £3 million and the major individual donations were to Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK, Carers Trust, Queen’s Nursing Institute, Parkinson’s UK, Perennial, MS Society and the National Autistic Society.
