The Open Air Film and Chill will be held at Shrewsbury College, London Road, on Saturday.

The 1978 romantic musical Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, will be shown on a giant screen.

Tickets range from basic admission to the film viewing itself right up to a comfy-plus-all-inclusive version which includes a drink, hot food, cushion and blanket.

Film-goers are also being invited to dress in character to add extra atmosphere for the festival-style showing, with prizes for the best outfits.

Event organiser Mo Davies, of Hereford, said: "Similar screenings in Gloucester and Hereford have been completely sold out within days, so we are expecting a big demand for tickets.

"The gates open at 7pm and the screening will start at dusk, at about 9pm when the light fades, and many people come along with camping chairs and blankets. Often they are dressed as lead characters Danny or Sandy, or as Pink Ladies, all of which adds to the fun aspect of the evening.

"Food and soft drinks will be available on site.

"This is a really entertaining and colourful film with a wonderful musical soundtrack to which people of all ages love to sing along. It is suitable for the whole family so everybody is welcome," she said.

The film is the latest open-air experience to be organised in Shropshire. Grease is among the films which have been shown in Telford, opening the way to other films including Despicable Me 2, Dirty Dancing and Star Wars: The Force Awakens which were shown on a big screen in May outside Telford shopping centre.

Shrewsbury's Quarry has also hosted open-air films, including Grease. Bridgnorth has also experimented with open-air cinema, hosting a free event in the run up to Christmas last year.

It screened Arthur Christmas and The Muppets Christmas Carol under the canopy of the Town Hall.

Tickets and further information for the Shrewsbury College event can be obtained via the Facebook page 'Open Air Film & Chill Shrewsbury' or by calling Mo Davies on the number 07790 665935.
