Classical singing sensation Melanie Nakhla is to return to her home town this weekend to perform at a special charity concert.

The All Angels group member, from Shrewsbury, has been lined up to appear at the Festival of Youth Gala Concert on Saturday night at the Maidment Centre at Shrewsbury School.

The 21-year-old was a pupil at both Shrewsbury Junior High and Prestfelde, spending her childhood years in Shrewsbury before going on to enjoy success with the classical music group.

Organisers of this weekend's concert say they are delighted to have secured Melanie to perform.

She is a worldwide star with the Angels, who have already achieved platinum discs, made appearances at the Classical Brits and received accolades from Sir Paul McCartney.

Heather Hall, trustee of Confide, said: "Talented singer Melanie Nakhla of All Angels has generously agreed to perform at the Festival of Youth Gala Concert on Saturday.

Performers are from Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury High and Prestfelde Schools. The proceeds from the concert will go to Confide Counselling Service to enable it to continue to provide aff-ordable, professional, accredited counselling to Shropshire people."

The concert will start at 7pm and light refreshments will be available afterwards. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from the schools and from Confide Counselling Service at the Roy Fletcher Centre, Cross Hill, Shrewsbury.
