Back so soon? Supermodel Caprice in Shropshire return
[gallery] It's not every day you get a top international supermodel sashaying into Shropshire – so twice in three months is pretty good going.
Having first visited as a guest speaker at the Shropshire Business Awards in June, Caprice was back in the county yesterday.
The supermodel-turned-lingerie entrepreneur headed for Shrewsbury to cut the ribbon on a new development of trade counters on Vanguard Way on the Battlefield Enterprise Park, having been invited by Morris Property, the developer behind the 10 new units.
She had stayed in the Golden Cross Hotel in Princess Street in the town centre the night before, and said she had been charmed by the county town.
"The Golden Cross was 500 years old – I've never stayed in a hotel that old," said the Californian, whose full name is Caprice Bourret.
"It was so beautiful and so quaint, I love this town. I felt like I was in a time warp, everything in America is two years old so to come to Shrewsbury, which is so historic and so beautiful, where they've preserved the city, was so cool."
Not everything about the historic landscape suited Caprice's tastes, however, as she had been wary of encountering spirits from the other side, adding: "Ghosts creep me out."
Caprice, who owns the By Caprice Lingerie brand, also told of her experience in talking to more than 600 members of the local business community on her previous visit at The Shropshire Business Awards.
"They were amazing," she added. "The turnout was unbelievable, and it was great that these successful businesses were being encouraged and rewarded."
