Full-back Gray in Wolves deal

Gray, who joined his new team-mates for training today, has penned a year-long deal at Molineux and will fight Charlie Mulgrew and Daniel Jones for the full-back slot.

The move reunites the Wolves boss with the experienced left-back he inherited during his three-year reign at Sunderland.

Gray, who becomes Wolves' fifth signing of the summer, will travel with the squad to Doncaster tonight and may play a part against the League One side.

The vastly experienced defender is nearing 500 competitive appearances and has never played outside the top two divisions.

He ended last season on loan at Leeds United, where he played 16 games but couldn't stop the Elland Road side from slipping into League One.

He played over 363 games for Sunderland before moving on to Celtic on loan. He has been at Blackburn since 2004 - making 64 appearances for the Ewood Park side.

Gray, 33 next month, also won three caps for England during Kevin Keegan's time in charge of the national side - turning out in Euro 2000 qualifiers against Sweden and Bulgaria.

The move will not end Wolves' summer transfer dealings - with McCarthy still in the market for reinforcements ahead of the August 11 kick-off.

Despite Gray penning a 12-month deal,it is understood that Wolves are still interested in Arsenal full-back Armand Traore.

The club are keen to tie up a loan deal for the French teenager and are still waiting for a response from Arsene Wenger on the 17-year-old's availability.

Traore is with the rest of the Arsenal squad in Austria but is believed to be on the fringe of the Gunners first team plans this season.
