Security to be beefed up at Powys Reform UK office which has been vandalised before it opens

The new Powys constituency office of a Reform UK Senedd Member has been attacked before it even opens.

Gwynedd Maldwyn Senedd Member Claire Johnson-Wood is close to opening her new office in Llanidloes.

But driving past it on the weekend she was greeted by anti-Reform and pro-Palestine stickers on the door and several windows.

She said the mindless act of vandalism has been reported to Dyfed Powys Police and the Senedd security department.

Claire said her constituency office is not political and is there to help the community with any issues they may have.

Claire said: “For the last few weeks, I have been excited over my new constituency office in Llanidloes, the decorators have been busy, and we are close to opening.

“Everyone locally that I’ve spoken to have had nothing but welcoming and positive reactions to the news.

“I have made it clear that my office is not political and that my staff and I are there to help everyone who needs or wants it.

“But sadly as I drove past the office on Sunday afternoon I noticed that the door and several windows had anti-Reform and pro-Palestinian stickers stuck to them.

“I actually felt sick and disappointed, I have been arguing with Senedd security that this kind of thing wouldn’t happen in this part of the world, so now I have no choice but raise the security level of my office to protect my staff and myself just in case this is not an isolated event.

“This not only makes both my staff and myself nervous about any future intimidation that may be carried out against us, it also is interesting to note that whoever did this obviously struggles with the spelling of Nigel!

“But I reaffirm my commitment to serve and help all my constituents regardless of political differences.”

A spokesperson for Dyfed Powys Police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police have received a report of criminal damage to a property on Great Oak St, Llanidloes.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
