The 26-year-old centre-back has agreed a four-year deal at Molineux and joins from Rio Ave for an undisclosed fee.

He becomes the second signing of the summer for Wolves and the second defender after the capture of free agent Ryan Bennett from Norwich.

The defender joined Rio Ave in the summer of 2013, where he first worked with recently appointed Wolves Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo.

Here's what our man in the know had to say regarding the new signing.

What qualities can Wolves fans expect from Roderick Miranda?

He’s a combative, fast, and vastly improved centre-back, coming off his best season in Portugal.

Wolves fans can look forward to a solid performer who has the tools and ambition to be a high-class defender.

Will Miranda suit English football?

Yes, I think the transition will not be a problem.

He’s very tall and strong in the air, he’s muscular too and doesn't shy away from physical battles so the extra physicality traditionally associated with the English game compared to in the rest of Europe should not be a problem.

How well does Nuno know his former player?

Roderick (as he is known in Portugal) was at Rio Ave in Nuno’s second season there, which was one of the most successful in the club’s entire history as it reached the final of both domestic cups, so Nuno will know all about him.

Have Wolves got good value for the £2.5m they've paid for him?

That’s a very good price in my opinion, and is only so cheap because he belongs to a very modest club.

If the same player was being bought from Benfica, his first club, you’d be looking at double or triple that amount.

What are Miranda's weaknesses, if any?

I can’t really think of any obvious weaknesses, although he is perhaps a little rash and reckless in his tackling at times, picking up yellow cards that he could avoid.
