Wolves boss to keep his middle men
Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today insisted no 'middle men' will be allowed to leave this summer – despite having a team of midfielders and wingers.
Jackett is happy to allow Tongo Doumbia and Razak Boukari to find new clubs during the current transfer window.
But he wants midfielders Kevin McDonald, Lee Evans, Jack Price, Tommy Rowe, David Davis and Dave Edwards, plus wingers James Henry, Michael Jacobs, Bakary Sako and Rajiv Van La Parra, as well as one of Zeli Ismail and Eusebio Bancessi, to battle it out for five slots in the new season.
Asked if there would be any departures apart from the unwanted players, head coach Jackett said: "I don't think so. If I'm looking at Kevin McDonald and Lee Evans finishing the season in the two central midfield positions, Jack Price had a lot of games and David Davis a few in terms of the senior lads.
"And we have Tommy Rowe coming in as well.
"In terms of the wide areas we have James Henry, Michael Jacobs, Bakary Sako and Rajiv Van La Parra, perhaps Zeli Ismail or Eusebio Bancessi, and then the option of perhaps playing Jacobs behind the striker does open it out for an extra wideman.
"And then Dave Edwards as an attacking midfield player.
"That group are probably going for five positions."
