Wolves' Sam Ricketts: We can maintain our current run
Captain Sam Ricketts today declared there's no time for Wolves to celebrate their place in the record books as he praised Kenny Jackett for bringing a winning mentality to the club.
Last night's 4-1 victory at Swindon was Wolves' ninth win in a row to earn a club record.
The Molineux men are now preparing for the visit of struggling Shrewsbury on Saturday, the third of a nine-match spell in 28 days.
And Former Telford player Ricketts said they can't afford to dwell on their place in the history books.
"We won't be relaxing or celebrating because we've won nine in a row," said the skipper.
"It's fantastic, but there's one thing we want and that's promotion. We're going to have to win plenty more games between now and the end of the season to achieve that and hopefully that will continue on Saturday.
"It's great and we're three points closer, but there's still a long way to go. We need to keep this run going and hopefully we'll get our rewards."
Ricketts believes Jackett deserves huge credit for the record-breaking run after bringing a winning belief back to Molineux.
"I don't think you can ever get bored of winning," he said. "It's a great feeling and it doesn't matter who you play against – to win is the whole idea why we train all week. And as players, fans and as a club, you always want to win.
"The gaffer brought that in right from the start of the pre-season and it's the same in every training game, he wants winners.
"I think we've certainly seen that this season, especially earlier on in the season when we had a desire to win games but we weren't necessarily playing that well.
"But we showed a desire to win by maybe putting our bodies on the line and giving everything, and that has put us where we are.
"It's a fantastic standard in this division this season," said Ricketts. "But fortunately we're at the top setting the pace and it's down to us to keep doing what we've done recently."
