Michael Jacobs ready for challenge after completing Wolves move

The 22-year-old Derby winger signed a two-and-a-half year deal for a fee rising to £200,000 – a bargain price for a player whose football has been one of the highlights of the campaign so far for supporters.

And the former Derby winger arrives believing a new era is upon Wolves that he does not wish to miss.

"They were good times at Derby and I will miss a lot of the people there but I think it is the right time in my career to take on a new challenge at Wolves.," he said,

" I think it is the place to be at the moment for me.

"There is a lot of hard work to be done but I think at a club like Wolves if you can get up once there is the potential to go again.

"Promotion has to be our main objective this season and anything else would be a major disappointment.

"These are exciting times and I think with the new lads who have come in there is a fresh impetus.

"The young lads - the likes of Ethan (Ebanks-Landell) and Jack Price – have done well since I came in too.

With that blend of youth and experience and adding new faces to the squad here already, I think the gaffer is building a really good squad.

"We should be capable of being up at the top end of League One pushing for promotion.

"I know there have been a couple of bad years for the club and for the fans but the feeling I get now is that the only place it is heading is up.

"We've just got to make sure we start picking up some decent results and get on a good run in the next few weeks."

Jackett believes that his latest signing is a talent who has been bubbling under on the domestic football scene but can fulfil his potential at Molineux.

And the ball-playing wide man is grateful to his new club for giving him the confidence to express himself again.

"I feel I have got better with every game and have enjoyed having that consistency with playing.

"I've benefitted from having four games in eight days over Christmas as well.

I feel like I've rekindled my love for football again which maybe I'd lost a little over the last six to eight months.

"Being given an opportunity here has helped me and I feel I'm playing with a lot more confidence.

"I have always had faith in my ability but when you are not playing regularly you do wonder whether you are good enough."
