Wolves task means no holiday for Kenny Jackett
Boss Kenny Jackett is so determined to hit the ground running at Wolves he is to go without a summer holiday.
The new head coach returned to his desk yesterday after a long weekend and immediately threw himself back into the job.
Jackett is busy speaking to Wolves' own players, agents and prospective targets as he plots a revamp of his squad and an immediate return to the Championship.
And he is determined to do all the groundwork he can before the players return for the start of pre-season training a week on Monday.
That includes foregoing a holiday, as he makes do with the occasional long weekend as his only breaks.
Jackett said: "I think with the structure around me here, I can point the club in the right direction and work very hard to make sure we hit the ground running.
"There is no doubt about it – our aim is to get promotion this season. Is that going to be easy? No.
"Does there need to be some adjustment? Of course – the games come at you thick and fast in this league so you need to be fit.
"There's no point playing well once every three games, you need to be able to put in performances on a Saturday and a Tuesday all the way through the season."
Jackett warned the players there could be something of a culture shock, with Wolves in the first round of the FA Cup and the Football League Trophy for the first time in a quarter of a century.
He said: "You don't have international breaks to fly off here and there and you're in the Football League Trophy.
"I have got experience of that, but our aim is to get promoted. It's a challenge we should embrace. Whenever you're at big clubs, there's pressure on you.
"That's whether you are a coach or a player - you have to embrace that challenge and realise that, in terms of being in the game, this is what you have to aim towards."
