Wolves urged to end their Molineux misery
Stale Solbakken today urged Wolves to seize the moment as they seek to end their Molineux misery against Birmingham tomorrow tea-time.
Wolves will be seeking to make it back-to-back wins in the televised derby against Blues at Molineux after last week's impressive 4-1 victory at Bristol City, which ended a nine-match winless run.
Solbakken's side haven't won in front of their own fans in six games since the 1-0 success against Sheffield Wednesday on September 29, despite leading in five of those matches.
And the Norwegian has warned his players not to waste another opportunity.
"It's a big game for us. It's a chance to get everyone onside and a chance to get back-to-back wins, which would help," said Solbakken.
"It's also a big game maybe in terms of getting fans to believe that we're on the right track again, and to get back-to-back wins before two difficult away games coming up, and to win at home again.
"Clearly we need points in the short term, but from what I've learned about this league, it's impossible to say we're going to do this or that because the Championship changes so much.
"It's been six home games without a win, but we could have won all of them because there have been such small margins.
"There hasn't been one home game where I couldn't say that after we were in front against Palace, Bolton, Charlton, Brighton and Forest."
Solbakken warned Wolves to expect a physical derby against Lee Clark's stuttering side, who are one point and two places below 17th-placed Wolves, but have only lost one of their last five trips.
"They're a strong, physical side if they play Nikolas Zigic and Marlon King up front," he said.
"King has scored a few goals and they're strong on setpieces with players like Curtis Davies in there."
Solbakken believes there is little to choose between the sides. "They're in a similar situation to us – we have more or less the same points," he said. "They're another team who can beat any other on their day."
