McCarthy goes back to basics with Wolves

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today declared his players are ready to reap the benefits of his 'back to basics' approach against Fulham on Saturday.
McCarthy has spent a chunk of the two-week break without a game on the training ground 'walking through' players' jobs with them after the heavy defeats to Newcastle and Everton.
And the Molineux chief believes his squad will be fully switched on and ready when the Cottagers clash gets underway.
"Training has been great," said the boss.
"It's important to remember it's never too late in a season to get back to basics.
"Players like to have a clear understanding of what's needed in certain situations.
"We've been working on how we play and doing what we do particularly well, our basics and doing them well.
"They like to be told because the first time it goes wrong they come and ask the bench what they should do.
"They need to know that both collectively and individually. Now let's see if we can get the result we need."
McCarthy admitted human nature and the problem of the opposition wanting to beat you meant avoiding mistakes can never be guaranteed.
"You can never be completely sure that mistakes are behind you because — by definition — mistakes are accidents and errors which come along accidentally," he said.
"Nobody knows why they're going to happen or where or when."
But despite conceding seven goals over the last two games, McCarthy stressed there weren't many errors in the previous defeat against Everton, with the final two goals in the 'unstoppable' category.
"There weren't too many errors in the Everton game although there were at Newcastle," he said. "One cross came in against Everton which we could have done better with defensively."
