Jamie O'Hara is ready to accept Mick McCarthy's challenge to add much-needed goalpower to Wolves' Premier League survival quest.

The 24-year-old midfielder was denied a run-out in the reserves after the postponement of last night's fixture against Manchester United at Telford.

But he remains eager to get his Wolves career under way immediately at Bolton tomorrow night.

"The manager wants me to play in an attacking midfield role and to get in among the goals," said O'Hara.

"The manager was pushing me to come here the most and I was really keen to work with him as he's been after me for a while.

"I think he sees more in a central role although I can play on the left.

"Wolves play 4-3-3 sometimes so I can maybe play in a number 10 role like I did for Portsmouth last season.

"Hopefully I'll be able to get into pockets behind the opposition midfield and try to create things."

His chances of starting at Bolton may be hindered by a lack of first team football but he believes Molineux's exhaustive medical has cleared any doubts about his back injury.

"The medical was the longest I've had ," added O'Hara, who is moving into an apartment in Birmingham city centre.

The Tottenham signing adds to the scramble for central midfield places with Karl Henry, Nenad Milijas, Dave Edwards, David Jones and fit-again Kevin Foley.

Wolves, who have taken back Ashley Hemmings from Torquay and sent David Davis to Shrewsbury , allowed Andy Keogh to become the fourth Molineux striker in the last 12 months to join Bristol City on a 93-day loan yesterday.

He follows Chris Iw-elumo, Stefan Maierhofer and Sam Vokes in moving to Ashton Gate.
