Paul Hurst is relishing Shrewsbury Town's return to League One action
Boss Paul Hurst is relishing a return to league action and challenged his side to revisit their previous high standards.
Table-toppers Town were given a 21-day break from league action due to FA Cup and international football commitments.
But with Saturday's trip to his former club Rotherham opening a three-game week, Hurst is ready for a return.
He said: "I'm ready to get back into league action, there's no doubt about that.
"Hopefully the players are of the same mind.
"We want to get the blood flowing and heart pumping again, when things really, really matter. The schedule does feel though it's stuttered a bit.
"Now we've got the next block of games, leading into January, to try and stay in two cups and pick up some more points."
Hurst's men have lost two of their last three games, tasting defeat at Peterborough and against Walsall.
He added: "I've emphasised how well we've done so far, but also what's got us here as well.
"We need to get back to those levels moving forward to stay even close to where we are."
Hurst is due to make a decision on the fitness of midfielder Jon Nolan (hip) as the players return today after a day off yesterday. He is 'hopeful' that Nolan will be fit for Saturday.
