Next Shrewsbury manager: Steven Pressley keen to hold talks
Former Coventry City boss Steven Pressley would be keen on the vacant Shrewsbury Town managerial position – should he receive certain assurances from the club.
The Scot has been out of work since leaving League One rivals Fleetwood in July and, while he has not applied for the job left by Micky Mellon, sources close to Pressley have revealed he would be interested.
The 42-year-old has been heavily linked with a return to his former Sky Blues post, but it is understood those links are wide of the mark.
Pressley is not among the bookmakers' favourites for the role, but the former defender, who spent just nine months with the Cod Army, is keen to return to management.
The 32-capped Scottish international would need convincing that a move to Shropshire would be suitable.
The bookmakers' favourite remains Morecambe chief Jim Bentley, but Salop supporters have reacted in an underwhelming manner, with the Shrimps struggling for consistency and sitting 14th in League Two.
Another League Two chief to distance himself from the position is Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst.
