Hoop dreams helping Shrewsbury Town's Bahrudin Atajic

Shrewsbury striker Bahrudin Atajic is going through the Hoops to develop his game.

He credits Celtic stars Georgios Samaras and Anthony Stokes for helping to improve him as a player.

Atajic, who joined Town on loan from Celtic until the end of the season in January, has trained alongside both players at his parent club.

And the 20-year-old, who joined The Bhoys from Malmo as a youth team player in 2010, said he has picked up helpful pointers.

Atajic also learned a lot from current Norwich City striker Gary Hooper, who spent three years with Celtic before his move south last summer as well as Celtic's coaching staff.

Asked which players at the Scottish Premiership champions had particularly helped him, he said: "I have had the opportunity to train with Samaras and Gary Hooper and Stokes. They are all really high-level strikers.

"Samaras has loads of caps for his country and Stokesy as well has been called up for Ireland a few times.

"I have had a good chance to work with them and catch on to a few things.

"The coaches have also helped. We have worked loads on striking and movement and finishing."

Samaras, a veteran of the Greek national football team, has starred in the English Premier League with Manchester City between 2006-2008, scoring 12 goals.

And he has netted more than 60 times for Celtic, including seven this season, since making the switch north of the border, initially on loan in January 2008.

Stokes meanwhile has also netted more than 50 times for Celtic including 11 times in league and cup this season and is a Republic of Ireland international.

Hooper scored 82 goals in 137 games for Celtic before being signed by the Canaries in July last year.

He has netted seven goals in 27 appearances so far this season.

Atajic, who was expected to be included in the Town squad for today's trip to Molineux, played four first team games for Celtic, netting one goal prior to his temporary move to the Greenhous Meadow.

He has since been handed six appearances by Town manager Mike Jackson, including one start and five substitute appearances.

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury Town fans can again become a member of the squad for a season. Young Town fan Ashley Williams, this season's winner, won a raffle last May earning an official squad number and a full kit.

Shrewsbury are launching the competition again this year and the prize also includes the chance to lead Town out for the opening home game of next season, a VIP day out at a home match including a meal for two, and the winner's name appearing in the squad list on the back of every home programme.

They will also meet the manager and players at the official pre-season photo call when they will be invited onto a special squad picture.

The winner will also be interviewed and given a special DVD to keep.

Raffle tickets priced £5 each or £10 for five tickets are now available from the Greenhous Meadow ticket office and club shop.

They can also be purchased online at www.shrewsshop.co.uk

Three consolation prizes of a signed ball, a signed shirt and two Sovereign Club tickets for a home game next season are also up for grabs.
