Alan Moogan set for AFC Telford recall

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson today vowed to recall Alan Moogan to the starting line-up for Saturday's trip to Gainsborough Trinity after resting the midfielder.

The former Everton trainee was left out of the squad for yesterday's 1-1 draw at home to Solihull Moors, with Charlie Barnett taking his place in the side.

The 29-year-old has been carrying a slight back injury and was taken out of the firing line by Watson, who insisted the decision was purely for the player's own good.

He said: "Alan has been struggling with his back and it's just trying to manage it. Playing Saturday then Monday was, perhaps, a bit too quick.

"I think we are better with him in the side. He keeps people on their toes, which is important. He's a winner – and you can't have enough of them in your team. He will be in the team on Saturday."

Sean Clancy again popped up with the equaliser yesterday, his third goal in three games, and Watson agreed the winger is fast becoming a key man for the Bucks.

He said: "Sean has cemented himself in the team purely on work-rate and he does have a knack of getting in the box at the right time.

"He's a modern day winger – they have to put a shift in. I have spoke to him and told him he has a big impact to make this season."
