Michael Briscoe on the way back for AFC Telford
AFC Telford United defender Michael Briscoe is set to begin rehabilitation work this week in his bid to recover from the back injury which has blighted his season.
But manager Andy Sinton has warned that it could take up to 12 weeks before the former Kidderminster Harriers stopper is ready to return to team training and stake a claim for match action.
Summer signing Briscoe has been sidelined for more than three months after limping out of the 1-1 draw at home to Lincoln City in early September.
The centre-back successfully underwent back surgery recently and, following a two-week spell of rest, will now begin working back to fitness.
Sinton said: "He starts his rehab this week. Just gentle stuff, mobilisation, gentle swimming. He has had a back operation.
"They have removed one of the discs and I am led to believe that it will be anything between eight and 12 weeks of rehab."
Asked whether that would take place at the club, he added: "We will be getting people into the club as much as we can.
"I wouldn't have thought he will be involved in team training in that period.
"He will just be doing rehab until he can get through it to a point where he can join in training."
Sinton revealed that striker Jake Reid and defender Chris Blackburn were put through their paces over the weekend, in a bid to improve their fitness levels for a Bucks return.
They were sent out on loan to Redditch United and Chorley respectively last month following their recovery from injuries, but returned to the New Bucks Head last week.
Sinton said: "They trained on Thursday and they were back at the club on Saturday, just upping their fitness levels to a point where I think they are capable of playing at this level."
