Andy Sinton warns AFC Telford over FA Trophy upset
Desire will be a major factor in AFC Telford avoiding an FA Trophy upset at lower-league King's Lynn tomorrow, boss Andy Sinton has said.
The Bucks chief is aware his side will start as big favourites in their second-round tie against a side who play in the Evo-Stik First Division South – three tiers below the Bucks.
But Sinton warned that away from home against a highly-motivated underdog, his players will need to make sure they are 'up for the fight' to ensure they take the £6,000 prize money on offer and move closer to Wembley. He said: "We have a chance to progress but if I was King's Lynn I would think, and they should be thinking, they have got a chance to progress too.
"If you go into a game of football thinking you can't win then you might as well not turn up.
"Because of the league pyramid we will start as favourites but it is on their pitch. They will be really up for it. We have got the make sure getting into the next round means more to Telford than it does for King's Lynn
"And that is where desire, determination and being up for the fight comes in to play."
His opposite number Gary Setchell has already masterminded victories against higher-league opposition in all four of their previous rounds in the competition.
Barwell, Carshalton Athletic, Eastbourne Borough and Worksop Town have all been dumped out of the competition by The Linnets.
But he is under no illusions about the task facing his side. "It's a mammoth task taking on Telford," said Setchell.
