AFC Telford United will ask players to join Supporters ' Trust

AFC Telford's players are to be enlisted as member of the club's Supporters' Trust.

The organisation, Telford United Supporters Ltd, was formed eight years ago after the demise of Telford United with the aim of sustaining non-league football in the town.

The Bucks have secured three promotions under the Trust's guidance, moving up from the Northern Premier League Division One South to the Conference Premier, and chairman Lee Carter insists its long-term goal is helping secure a place in the Football League.

Now he is demanding players embrace the philosophy of their supporters and he will insist they all pay £1 for a share each in the Trust, which entitles them to a vote on decisions affecting the club.

"I want every player to become a member of the supporters' trust. It was a battle for us last year after promotion and we want the players to believe in what we believe in," said Carter.

"We want them to be totally committed to the values of this organisation, so next season they will be asked to join. There won't be any excuses, they will be expected to sign up."

Meanwhile, Bucks boss Andy Sinton wants new recruit Danzelle St.Louis Hamilton to prove he can challenge for the number one jersey before he earns a permanent deal at the New Bucks Head.

The former Stoke City trainee has been signed on a non-contract basis to cover for first choice Ryan Young while Joe Collister is recovering from a shoulder injury.

Sinton said: "I always like to carry two keepers so it is up to Danzelle to prove his worth. He's got to show me what he can do."
