The 21-year-old will look to defend her mixed doubles crown as well as playing in the women’s doubles at the national championships in Wycombe.

Her mixed doubles partner will be Ben Lane and she will be paired with five-time champion Lauren Smith in the women’s doubles.

“I don’t go into it thinking about one specific event, I want to do the best I can in both,” said Pugh.

“I’ll go in with an equal mindset and hopefully come out with the best results in both my two events.

“Nationals is obviously a really prestigious event, everyone wants a national title. I was lucky enough to get my first one last year, so hopefully I can add to my tally and get another one or two this year.”

The biggest threat to her and Lane’s mixed doubles title will be Smith and Olympic bronze medallist Marcus Ellis.

“They’re a really good pair, ranked top 15 in the world, so it’s always a challenge,” added Pugh.
