The England hopeful, watched again by Fabio Capello at the weekend, was taken off after just 54 minutes of Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Tottenham with a groin problem.
Jarvis will now spend the week wrapped in cotton wool and faces several days' rest and treatment as Wolves' medical staff do all they can to get the 24-year-old fit for the televised Molineux derby against Villa on Sunday.
The winger's shortlived outing at White Hart Lane was a big blow as he had been Wolves' most dangerous player, while he was harshly denied an early penalty after being brought down by William Gallas.
"Jarvis had a tight groin and needed to come off," said boss Mick McCarthy.
"He's been terrific for us and is always a threat with his pace. I was in the process of getting Steven Fletcher off because he'd taken a bang, having scored the goal, which should have given us something out of the game.
"But Jarvis was starting to struggle so I wasn't going to risk him because I need him for the next games."
Wolves fans chanted 'Jarvis for England' on Saturday after the he was included in a provisional squad for the Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland earlier this month.
McCarthy would love to see Jarvis become the first Wolves player since Steve Bull, 20 years ago, to be capped by England.
"He's very good but I don't pick the England team, I only pick the Wolves team, but thanks for the people who brought it up," said McCarthy.
While Jarvis sits out the visit of County, defender Steven Mouyokolo could make his competitive debut for Wolves.
