Shrewsbury Town chief Graham Turner insists youth will be given it's fling at the Greenhous Meadow next season.

Town returned to training yesterday with a squad of 18, six of whom - Hakan Duyan, Harry Hooman, Connor Goldson, Danny Taylor Jon Taylor and Tom Bradshaw - are under the age of 20.

And, while Turner is anxious to ensure his forthcoming signings bring the correct balance of youth and experience to his squad, he insists the youngsters will be given ample chance to shine.

"The reports coming back to me from both Michael Jackson (coach) and David Hughes (Head of Youth) is there are one or two very bright young players," said Turner.

"I know Tom Bradshaw, for instance, had a taste of first team experience at the end of last season.

"From what I gather, the crowd took to him and he put one or two goals in so I'm looking forward to seeing him and what potential he has got.

"They will all be encouraged that I want, as much as possible, for the younger players to feel part of it and be integrated in the first team squad quickly so when they get the chance they will feel comfortable."

Turner is seeking to add at least four new faces to his squad before the League Two campaign begins.

"I think if I have to name a figure (for a squad size) it would be around 22 but I always have an open mind," he added.

"If there are one or two younger players, in particular, that are available out there, I have always been prepared to give young players a chance.

"We have to have the scope to be able to take a bigger squad than originally thought simply because I wouldn't want to miss a player I think has got potential."
