Wolves are preparing for a £2.5m transfer windfall as Manchester City finally close in on former Molineux defender Joleon Lescott.
The Everton centre-back is due to complete a £24m move to Eastlands. That will net Wolves a healthy cash boost, thanks to the sell-on clauses that formed part of his move to Merseyside in 2006.
Molineux officials remain tight-lipped on the details of the deal, but the clauses are believed to guarantee the club between 10 and 15 per cent of any profit Everton make on the 27-year-old.
That could give them as much as £2.5m to boost the coffers.
It will also make Lescott Wolves' record sale, after moving for an initial £6m three years ago, taking the total income above that from the deal that took Robbie Keane to Coventry in 1999.
