Twitter users create the #StayAtHomeChallenge as many begin to work from home
As the Government urges people to avoid the office, bars, restaurants and cinemas, Twitter users are sharing their tips for isolation.
Social media users encouraged each other to stay indoors as many began a long spell of working from home and avoid gatherings to combat the coronavirus.
The hashtag #StayAtHomeChallenge was trending in the UK on Tuesday, encouraging Britons to make the most of staying inside and sharing tips for isolation.
While some were already desperate to get out of the house, others appeared to enjoy their new-found isolation.
“I’m seeing #StayAtHomeChallenge trending and am having trouble understanding what the challenge is,” wrote one Twitter user.
Some used the hashtag to share tips for working from home effectively.
Michael Colby tweeted: “Here’s a tip for those new to working from home: Use a walk as your ‘commute’ to begin and end your day. It helps tremendously.”
Some found that their pets have become quite good colleagues, with several people posting photos of their cats and dogs enjoying their company at home.
On Monday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson advised that more people should work from home and everyone should avoid pubs, clubs and restaurants.
“Mass gatherings, we are now moving emphatically away from,” he added.
Though several West End theatres have made the decision to close, the Government has not yet announced that restaurants, bars and other public spaces will be ordered to close their doors.
