A public notice from Highways England confirmed plans to resurface the A5 Nescliffe bypass, with the work set to last from March 8 to April 10.

The work will see the A5 resurfaced in both directions between Felton Butler roundabout and the Wolfshead roundabout.

Highways England said it would also be redoing road markings, replacing reflective studs, broken kerbs, clearing vegetation, and “renewing vehicle monitoring technology”.

The work will be carried out between 8pm and 6am. A number of closures will be required for the work, with diversion routes in place.

From March 8 to 19 the road will be closed eastbound between Wolfshead and Felton Butler and from March 22 to April 5, the opposite direction will be closed. From April 5 to 10 it will be closed both directions, including Felton Butler roundabout.

The organisation said: “When Felton Butler roundabout is closed overnight we will use the vehicle checkpoint for our diversion route. Traffic will be controlled by lights.”

Shropshire Council, meanwhile, is proposing a new 50mph limit on roads around Kemberton Junction.

It is running a consultation on the plan to create a 50mph speed limit along the A4169 and B4379 at Kemberton junction until March 17.

The authority said the reduction from 60mph will “improve road safety at the junction for all road users”.

It would come into place along the A4169, B4379, Hall Lane and Old Kemberton Road to Langley House.

Along the A4169, the 50mph limit would be from the county boundary with Telford & Wrekin eastwards and then northwards about 100m from Paddock Lane.

It would be implemented on the B4379 from its junctions with the A4169, to a point 45m south of that junction. Along Hall Lane the limit would be in place from its junction with the B4379 to a point 27m to the east. It would also be implemented along the entirety of Old Kemberton Road to Langley House.

The council has made an order temporarily prohibiting the use of a Shrewsbury footpath while developers carry out work. The order will see Footpath 81 and 82 at Oteley Road closed until March 1, 2022.

The council said the order is “required on the grounds of public safety.” due to the development of the site, and an alternative route is available around the perimeter of the site”.
