Hay trailer accident blocks busy Telford junction
A trailer load of hay bales tipped over at one of the busiest junctions in Telford, causing traffic chaos for more than three hours.
Trench Lock Interchange was shut after the incident last night while Telford & Wrekin Council staff worked to clear the road. The incident happened at about 6pm and the road was re-opened just before 9pm.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said the trailer came loose from a tractor towing it and tipped over.
The accident caused the load of hay bales to fall off and scatter across the road and verge. A passer-by, who did not wish to be named, said: "It was chaos at Trench Lock.

"There were huge hay bales all over the road and verge with the large, green trailer lying on its side.
"It was lucky the bales did not land on anybody."
A lamp post was damaged in the incident which Telford & Wrekin Council workmen later removed.
Russell Griffin, spokesman for Telford & Wrekin Council, said: "When the council got to Trench Lock Interchange the police were already there and the road was closed.
"A number of bales of hay were spread across both the carriageway and the verge and there was a liberal covering of hay.
"The lamp post was damaged and our engineers removed it to make sure it was safe.
"We assisted in clearing up the hay and removing the bales by putting them on a trailer to take away."
