Kelly Osbourne said working with Dolly Parton was “one of the greatest honours” of her life.

Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter Kelly Osbourne has paid tribute to country music icon Dolly Parton who has died aged 80.

The 41-year-old daughter of the Birmingham-born Black Sabbath legend declared there “will never be another Dolly Parton” after hearing the news - stating that working with her was one of the “greatest honours” of her life.

In a post on Instagram, which has gained more than 11,000 likes, Kelly Osbourne wrote: “Dolly, thank you for paving the way. Not only for women in music, but for women everywhere to be unapologetically themselves. You showed us that we could be ambitious and kind, strong and soft, fearless and authentic.

“One of the greatest honors of my life was getting to work with you. Your legacy reaches far beyond music. Through your philanthropy, generosity, and commitment to literacy and education, you changed countless lives and made the world a better place.

“You used your success to lift others, proving that true greatness is measured not only by what we achieve, but by what we give .There will never be another Dolly Parton. Thank you for the music, the laughter, the love, and for leaving this world brighter, kinder, and better than you found it.”

Dolly, who was Godmother to singer Miley Cyrus, was best known for her genre-defining hits including 9 To 5, I Will Always Love You and Jolene.

Her nephew Brian Seaver announced her death in a video shared on her Instagram page. The news comes just days after Dolly spoke out about her ongoing health problems after she was forced to pull out of a Dollywood appearance earlier this month.

Parton missed the opening night of a new attraction at her Tennessee theme park earlier this month after experiencing dizziness and dehydration, with doctors advising her against travel.

Dolly was married to Carl Thomas Dean for almost 60 years until his death in March 2025, aged 82.

The musician wrote I Will Always Love You – one of the defining love songs of the 20th century – as a goodbye to her former creative partner Porter Wagoner, who hired her to be his sidekick on The Porter Wagoner Show and helped her land a record deal.

The song became a blockbuster hit when Whitney Houston recorded a cover for the 1992 film The Bodyguard.

Parton’s own film career began in 1980 when she starred in 9 To 5 with Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.

Her theme song for the movie became her first number one single on the Hot 100 chart in the US.

Her other notable film appearances include The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas alongside Burt Reynolds, Rhinestone with Sylvester Stallone, and Steel Magnolias with Julia Roberts and Sally Field.

Her 1973 track Jolene is widely considered to be one of country music’s greatest songs.

It was covered by Beyonce on her 2024 album Cowboy Carter, which won the album of the year Grammy.

Parton was born in a single-room cabin in Locust Ridge, Tennessee, in 1946, as the fourth of 12 children.

She began her musical journey at the age of six, singing in the local church where her grandfather was the pastor.

By the age of 13, she had reached the pinnacle of country music success – an appearance at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee.
