'Over the moon': Shrewsbury boutique B&B gets visit from world-famous astronaut
“The whole team was very excited to have him staying with us”
A boutique Bed and Breakfast in the county town got paid an out-of-this-world visit from the famous British astronaut Tim Peake.
The British spaceman stayed for two nights at Darwin’s Townhouse, at 37 St Julien’s Square, Shrewsbury, in October, to coincide with his appearance at Theatre Severn.
Major Peake’s visit left the team at the B&B “very excited”, manager Ellie Ferguson explained.

She said: “The whole team was very excited to have him staying with us. It was a lovely surprise and a real talking point amongst everyone!”
Major Peake is famous for being only the seventh person from the United Kingdom to go to space - he was just the sixth to go on board the International Space Station.
The astronaut took to the stage at Theatre Severn last month to perform his live show, ‘Astronauts: The Quest To Explore Space’.
In a post on social media, the team at Darwin’s Townhouse said: “We were over the moon to welcome Tim Peake, the real-life astronaut, who was in Shrewsbury to deliver his live talk, ‘Astronauts: The Quest to Explore Space’ at Theatre Severn.
“And what a lovely down-to-earth gentleman he was! Despite having travelled far beyond our little corner of the world, Tim was kind enough to stop for a photo with one of our team.”

Harriet Roberts, 19, who works at the B&B, was the lucky young lady who managed to get a snap with the famed astronaut.
The online post continued: “It’s not every day you get to meet someone who’s literally been to space! Needless to say, the excitement was astronomical, and we’re pretty sure this stay deserves a place in our hall of fame… or should that be our space station?
“Tim, thank you for choosing Darwin’s Townhouse. We hope your stay was out of this world!”
