Public can vote to make this Shropshire market Britain's favourite at major national awards

“It brings together local traders, makers, growers and families in a lively, welcoming environment.”

People can now nominate a Shropshire market in the Great British Market Awards 2027.

Ludlow Market is one of hundreds from across the country which can be voted for by the general public to win a range of titles at the major awards ceremony.

Organised by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA), the Great British Market Awards celebrate the best of the best in the market industry.

Ludlow Market, which is run by Ludlow Town Council and operates in the town centre near to the historic castle, runs every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

It offers the public an array of fresh produce, handmade goods, artisan foods, vintage finds and unique crafts to buy.

Talking about the award nominations being open, a Ludlow Town Council spokesperson said: “Ludlow Town Council is pleased to announce that Ludlow Market is among the markets the public can vote for in the Great British Market Awards 2027, a national celebration of excellence, innovation and community spirit across UK markets.

“Set in the historic heart of Ludlow and nestled beneath the backdrop of Ludlow Castle, Ludlow Market is one of Shropshire’s most distinctive community spaces.

“Throughout the week, it brings together local traders, makers, growers and families in a lively, welcoming environment.”

Ludlow Market also holds third-party markets, such as the Antiques Market on the first and third Sundays of each month, and the award-nominated Local to Ludlow Producers’ Market on the second and third Thursdays of the month.

Public voting is now open until December 11, and Ludlow Town Council is urging residents and the wider public in Shropshire to vote for Ludlow Market as Britain’s Favourite Market.
