Your next stylish work accessory could be made from approximately 15 recycled plastic water bottles, as an eco-friendly bag has smashed its fundraising target on Kickstarter.

BOITA Bag Co has launched a crowdfunding page to raise money for its bag, which can be used as both a backpack and a briefcase.

The waterproof bag is made from vegan leather and the bag’s midsection, lining and straps are made from recycled plastic bottles.

The company said: “All our shoulder straps and padding use bloom foam, the world’s first plant-based performance-driven foam formulated with algae biomass.

“Every bag returns 234 bottles of clean filtered water back to the environment and prevents 22 balloons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.

“The bag midsection, lining, thread, YKK zips and straps from every bag are made from approximately 15 recycled plastic bottles preventing plastic polluting our landfills and oceans.”

BOITA Bag Co has surpassed its fundraising target of £30,000 on its Kickstarter page, raising more than £35,000 from crowdfunders.

The eco-friendly bag is available for a discounted price of £165 for Kickstarter backers.

The bags are expected to be delivered by January 2019.
