Young entrepreneurs at Moor Park raise almost £1,000 for Midlands Air Ambulance in school challenge

Pupils at Moor Park School transform £50 investment into a £1,000 donation for the Midlands Air Ambulance
Year 8 pupils at Moor Park School have shown their entrepreneurial skills by turning a small investment into almost £1,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance.
The pupils, from the school at Richard’s Castle near Ludlow, took part in an end-of-term enterprise challenge following their Common Entrance examinations, with the aim of raising as much money as possible for charity.
Working in two teams, the pupils were each given a £50 loan from the Moor Park Parents’ Association and challenged to create and run their own businesses over the course of a week.

One team organised a car wash before increasing its fundraising by selling ice lollies at the school’s Sports Day and Summer Fete.
The second team set up a bric-a-brac shop using donated toys, books and puzzles from the school community, alongside handmade bracelets created by the pupils themselves.
Through careful planning, promotion and teamwork, the two groups turned their initial £100 investment into almost £1,000, which will now be donated to the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Nicola Middleton, from Moor Park, said: “We are incredibly proud of what our Year 8 pupils have achieved.

“They embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, showing real initiative, resilience and teamwork throughout the week. Not only did they develop valuable enterprise skills, but they also made a meaningful contribution to a fantastic local charity that provides such an important service to our community.”
The challenge gave pupils the opportunity to develop communication, organisation and business skills while supporting a charity that provides lifesaving emergency medical care across the region.
