Developers want to build about 50 new homes, including affordable housing, on land in Hodnet, it emerged today.
A community consultation event will be held in the village on Tuesday when residents will get to view the plans and have their say.
A spokeswoman for estate agent Strutt & Parker, which is organising the consultation event on behalf of those behind the scheme, said no plans had yet been submitted for proposed development on land behind Shrewsbury Street.
A public notice about Tuesday's event described the development as 'a mixed residential housing development including affordable housing for local people'.
Full details of the scheme have not been released and it is expected they will be made public at the consultation.
The community consultation meeting is scheduled to be at the Lyon Memorial Hall on Tuesday between 4pm and 6pm.
