Three men deny dog fighting claims

Three men have denied a series of charges relating to alleged dog fights in Telford.

Charles Boylett, 68 and Samuel Boylett, 32 both of Brookside, Telford and Mark James Paddock, 44, of no fixed abode, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday. (Fri Jan 9)

Charles, of Burtondale, denied three charges of being present at an animal fight in Telford on March 2, 9 and 23 last year (2014).

Samuel, of another address in Burtondale, pleaded not guilty to six charges of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. Five related to dogs at his home between March 21 and March 28 last year (2014) and the other was on June 3, 2013, in Telford against a dark brown terrier type dog.

He also denied four charges of causing or attempting to cause an animal fight to take place on June 3, 2013 and March 2, 9 and 23, last year (2014), and four charges of being present at an animal fight on the same dates.

Paddock pleaded not guilty a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal - a dark brown terrier type dog - in Telford on June 4, 2013, three charges of causing or attempting to cause an animal fight to take place on March 2, 9 and 23 last year (2014) and three charges of being present at an animal fight in the town on the same dates.

All three men were released on bail to appear at Telford Magistrates Court for a trial starting on June 11.

Before that, the case is due to be mentioned without the defendants attending at Telford Magistrates Court on May 13.
