Armed Forces Day celebrated with the opening of a permanent Telford salute to veterans
A permanent trail celebrating the service of veterans has been officially opened in Telford, marking Armed Forces Day.

After being inspired by the Veterans Walk in Sunderland, veteran volunteers wanted to create a permanent "trail of celebration" for those who have served or are still serving.
Plaques, purchased by veterans or their families or friends, will be installed around the park, raising money for charities providing essential services to local veterans.
On Saturday, Armed Forces Day, the first phase of plaques was unveiled at Telford Town Park’s existing War Memorial, overlooking the QEII Arena.
First observed in 2006, the day commemorates the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces.
The charity behind the project, Telford's Veteran Trail is run entirely by veterans and members of the armed forces who are volunteering their time for free.
Their chair, Erica Hanson-McKenzie, explained: "We started this back in 2017 when Telford & Wrekin Council wanted ideas for its 50th birthday.
