Tern Valley Vintage Ploughing Club will host the match at Little Bolas near Crudgington off the A442 this Sunday.

Farmers will put their technical ploughing skills to the test as the judges will check for straight, neat lines.

Other attractions include trailer rides, a Shire horse demonstration and there will be opportunities for visitors to try their hand at the traditional farming practice.

The event is open from 10am until 2pm and will be signposted along the A442.

Andrew Millington, of the club, said: “People from all over the place are coming. You can have a go at horse ploughing. There won’t be any tractor pulling this time though.

"There will be food available with a catering trailer. We're hoping to attract a fair number of visitors.”

Entry is £3 per person and refreshments will be on sale.

This year proceeds from the match will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support nursing service.

In previous years the competition raised money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, Shropshire Deaf Children’s Society.

Earlier this year the club's annual tractor road run, a separate event, saw 118 drivers rev up to raise more than £2,000 mainly for Cancer Research UK.

They covered a 20-mile route from Temple Market, in Market Drayton, all the way up to the Cheshire border before returning to the Market Drayton finish line.
